Hello

I've never used a blog before. Sorry to post a bit of a silly comment, but how does it work? How can I add new topics?

Also while I am managing to type something, what do the contributors here think about neighbourhood regeneration and heritage - do you think heritage has a key part to play, or is it just about jobs for lazy archaeologists?

I have never joined a blog before either, so you're comment is fine! just to let you know I was an undergrad at the IOA, and am now working as a heritage consultant, anyway, I hope that this site has some interesting debate, which coming from the commercial side of things, i may be able to offer some different perspectives. Well done for organising this!

Oh carrying on from my last err blog, thats an interesting point, neighbourhoods have changed a lot over the last 50 years with the loss of community etc, there should be some form of characterisation or recording of neighbourhoods if they are to be redeveloped etc, the problem being of course that you need to record a neighbourhood when it is fully occupied and at its peak to gain a true sense of place.

I think that's an interesting poitn Mike. It characterisation about capturing a golden age (the peak if you like) or trying to see the collage of time through its impact in the present.

Incidentally heritage consultant - that sound interesting, what do you do in that role?
